Hi, my name is Sparrow! I am resilient and amazing!
Just a few weeks ago, I was brutally attacked by teenagers when a good samaritan risked her own safety, stepped in and scooped me up. I was hurting so much and most certainly would’ve died. My superhero took me to a trusted friend who rallied her village to help and save me. I was in shock and my eye was horribly infected, so they rushed me to the emergency vet. There was no chance of saving my eye, so it was removed within a few hours. The staff was so kind and loved me when I was really scared.
The first week was pretty tough, having to wear that cone and all. I love to groom my gorgeous silvery gray coat and it was impossible! They just kept reassuring me it wouldn’t be for long and that I would be okay...
You’ll probably notice my overbite. I suffered multiple jaw fractures as well. I was so thin and hungry when they rescued me. My foster has been feeding me frequent meals throughout the day - I’m quickly gaining weight! Just wet food for now but they tell me I will get to try kibble in the coming weeks.
Through the collective efforts of transporters, fosters, EDCHS and All Creatures Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Folsom, I am being well cared for and loved while I fully recover. I will be looking for a permanent, indoor-only, loving home in the coming weeks. My foster tells me that despite this entire horrific ordeal, I am seemingly unfazed, that I love to play and am quite comfortable with my surroundings which include little people and dogs.
Any donations you are able to make towards my care would be much appreciated! You can click the donate button below.

-- Feral Cats are Misunderstood --

Whether you call them strays, outdoor cats or community kitties, one thing is for sure – feral cats are one of the most misunderstood animal groups in the U.S.  Feral cats are independent cats who live and hunt outside and are not socialized to humans.  In fact, outdoor cats who hunt small game have been around for nearly 10,000 years.  Misconceptions about feral cats wiping out populations of wildlife, contribute to a prejudice against them.

El Dorado County Humane Society has several programs that support Feral Cats within our neighborhoods.
  • Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Program
  • Community Cat Food Bank
  • Barn Buddy Program
